The Chagos Archive is under development. In addition to the documents found here, the full Chagos Archive site includes photographs, videos, and background information. It can be found at www.chagosarchive.org.

Many documents have underlining, starring, and notes in red ink. These markings were made on photocopies of original documents by Professor David Vine during research. All other handwritten markings were on the documents when Vine or other researchers discovered them.

Most documents are scans of photocopies of original archival materials. The quality of a small number of document scans is poor usually because of the quality of the document as it was found in the archives. We apologize for inconsistencies in document labeling and any spelling or other errors.

The Chagos Archive is run entirely by volunteers and has no funding. Start-up support to upload and organize documents was generously provided by the American University College of Arts and Sciences. Michael Quiroz did amazing programming work to organize the documents and make them available on this Omeka site.
